Tokyo Summer Dreams - A Story of the Monologue Play on Mr.G
Kensuke Shimizu
A man sits on a chair. The name of this character is Mr.G. There are a
kind of a box, and a glass of water, near him. He addresses the audience.
1.
MY DESTINATION
Entrance/Exit of a railway station.
a glass of water flying in my mind.
last night’s wine,
she knows,
I know.
I walk into the air of another
space, a magic of speed in it.
Standing, Walking, Sitting,
Smiling,,,,
Actions in a train, in this
train,,,,
Where am I going to? Who knows? I do
not know....
Thinking about my future, my past,
my current existing myself....
Maybe K knows. He knows everything,
doesn’t he???
K is staring at me alone, with a cat....
K only whispers to another K who
knows about K.
K is getting nervous at the same
time getting tired
at the same time getting
angry for just one second.
K, after that, looking at a ticket,
the train ticket which is supposed
to be my ticket.
I want to have it, my ticket....
but, but, but,
K disappears.
Where am I?
I am in my room, with, my cat....
2.
BOX IN MY HEART
I have a box in my heart.
It is located in the central part of
the city called Myself.
I look inside the box.
but, always nothing in it. always....
Just a box with nothing, invisible?
I want to put my precious thing I
feel obliged to keep in the depth of
a mechanical
maniac.
Now I begin starting it... my secret
device with a secret agent
who is
from nowhere
inside a
screen.....
Operators dancing with umbrellas day and night on a frosty day outside
at the garden yard.
Monologues told by four students working for a big company inside at the
photo studio.
Shouts written by five million people for yourselves in&out side at
the studioyard.
The box everything can be in it.
but also everything can refuse to
enter it.
Are you one of them?
Am I still just sitting and watching
the screen?
I watch the screen in a living room
with other people having
dinner.
Oh I brush my teeth before going to
bed, are you?
My friend brushes his/her teeth
before going to work
in the
morning
Are you sometimes wondering, what
time people brush their teeth?
I mean,,,WHAT EXACT TIME??? 7:23 and
45 seconds in the morning?
6:28 and 59 seconds in the evening in JAPAN?
5:15 and 24 seconds in the morning in LONDON?
7:16 and 34 seconds in the morning in MINNEAPOLIS?
3:15 and 23 seconds in the afternoon
at workplace?
2:57 and 27 seconds in the afternoon
in a cinema?
Maybe when or before or after
you make art works using box...
ARE YOU?
YOU CAN DO
IT!!!
THAT WOULD BE
FANTASTIC!!!
I am wondering if someone including myself making
art using box
when or before or after
brushing teeth......
And maybe you can brush and
polish a box
with the EXACT same
feeling you have during
brushing teeth at your favorite
brushing-teeth time!!!
Oh MY BOX!!!
I will clean it, caress it,
everyday!!!
To be in an artistic mind!!!
3.
WATER WITH COLD ICE ON A HOT HOT HOT SUMMER SUNNY SHINY DAY
I was in a space with sixteen chairs
inside a skyscraper building
just at an entrance near a
revolving door.
With a person, we waiting for a
person.....
Six other people sitting or standing
or talking or non-talking.....
Three of them eating lunch with some
drink, with some drink, yeah,,,,
One of them just sitting for a while
without saying and go....
go where?
I don’t
know...
we looked at posters of art exhibitions
the art exhibitions about
photos and modern paintings
and boxes around the world
and silence-space and
and and what???
I want to go to see one of them.....
a person wants to go to see another one
of them.....
we talk, sit, standing, waiting,
walking, running, and stoppppp
then start again...
we begin to be aware of the fact that the wind is blowing
regularly from a ceiling.....
as if someone controlled a
machine.....
AIR CONDITIONER we call it..
we meeting a person.....
we walking in a summer afternoon
with sweat........
we shouting OH WHAT A HOT DAY IT
IS!!!
we getting ON a train the cold
air in it
we getting OFF a train the cold
air in it
we walking again outside under
the sunshine
we entering a hotel in the
central part of the city
we having lunch the Japanese
traditional style
we walking again the street full
of hard-working people
we stepping up and down and up and
down stairs narrow
in the evening we are at a café
thirsty thirsty thirsty
with our legs not wanting to
move anymore
at the café there is a family who is
in a sophisticatedstyle
with <a glass of water with
ice> in hands
inthesmallcafe we are talking about
Jazz we are listening to....
Yes! we drink WATER with COLD ICE on
a HOT HOT HOT summer sunny shiny day!!!
That’s so NICE!!!
at restaurants, sometimes ask a waiter/waitress,
“What do you recommend today?”
in TOKYO on a HOTHOTHOT SUMMER DAY,
Someone recommends you to have mineral WATER with COLD ICE!!!
That’s really GOOD!!!
after being in outside for
ten minutes or more!!!
Or, is it? Yeah, it is really hot weather here,
just want to have something cold drink!
just want to have something cold…
just want to have something
just want to have
just want to
just want
just
jjjjjj
Ha!
